The 'Ulana' Collection by Tony Hanson

Tony Hanson is one of the great epicactus hybridisers in Australia and created a wonderful collection of hybrids prefixed as 'Ulana'. Tony is still hybridising at age 91, which sets a great example for us all.

Some years ago, Tony and his wife Julie became firm friends with Michael Guillot, whom they came to know and trust for his dedication to all things Australian epicactus. Tony has now entrusted the bulk of his collection, his photographs and hybridising notes exclusively to Michael, who is committed to the promotion of Australian hybrids and in particular Tony's ULANA collection.

Michael has taken on the huge task of promoting Tony's Ulanas and ensuring they are correctly passed on to new growers. Michael has also registered over 40 of Tony's Ulana Collection with the Epiphyllum Society of America (ESA) who bestowed upon Tony the 2021 Founders Award, which is the first time the Founders’ Award has been presented to someone outside of the USA and Germany. This is a great accolade and highlights the amazing quality of Tony's Ulana hybrids.

The majority of Ulana and Rossmore hybrids in my collection were generously given to me by Michael Guillot.
